Hiring process for Russell Springs Police Chief has begun

The City of Russell Springs has begun the process of hiring a new police chief.

The city posted the position on Friday, and applications will be accepted until 4 p.m. on Nov. 16.

Below are a list of requirements the city is looking for in the position.

A qualified applicant must possess a high school diploma, but a bachelor’s degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, or a related field from an accredited college or university is preferred, supplemented by ten (10) years of responsible and professional law enforcement experience. At least four (4) years of prior law enforcement experience must have been in a supervisory position. Applicants must be certified, or able to be certified in six months, by the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council. These requirements are in addition to the minimum requirements required to be hired as an entry-level police officer for the city.
