School Board to meet Monday evening

The Russell County School Board will meet at 5 p.m. in the auditorium of the Russell County ANC Building.

At the meeting, Russell County Schools Superintendent Michael Ford is expected to announce a plan for students returning to school. The plan would consist of middle and high school students returning to the classroom two days each week, with students who have a last name beginning in A-L going on Mondays and Tuesdays, while students with last names beginning in M-Z will go to school on Thursdays and Fridays.

Wednesdays would be fully virtual for all middle and high school students, and the days where students aren’t physically at school, they will be participating in virtual learning.

As for elementary students, students will physically be in school four days a week, with Wednesdays serving as a virtual day which will be used for extra cleaning and sanitation.

This type of plan is being used by multiple school districts across the state.

The full meeting agenda is posted below.
