Highest Single Day Death Total in Kentucky Due to COVID on Thursday

Kentucky reported 22 deaths across the state yesterday due to COVID-19.

Gov. Andy Beshear also announced 805 new cases of the virus, bringing the state’s case total to 54,772. The state’s death toll is now 1,035.

Yesterday’s announcement of 22 deaths is the highest number of coronavirus deaths the state has announced in a single day. Beshear warned on Tuesday that new case numbers and deaths would likely be inflated at the end of the week because of a backlog created by the holiday weekend.

In the Lake Cumberland area, there were 53 new cases reported yesterday, with 22 of those in Pulaski county. Russell County reported 5 new cases yesterday, leaving the county now with 34 active case, three of which are currently hospitalized.
