Russell Springs Council Takes Several Action During Thursday Meeting

Mayor Also Announces Dates for City Pool for Remainder of Summer

As Mayor Eddie Thomas put it the “hot topics” for the August 13th meeting of the Russell Springs City Council involved the city conducting a first reading to close two city streets.
According to Mayor Thomas, the city currently maintains two separate dead end “roads” that are surrounded by single property owners.

The blacktopped portions of road are enjoyed by local residents but is neither of essential use to the city nor inhibiting right of way to other properties. Thomas said the property owners on those streets had requested the city revert the land back to them.
In other action, the council entered into the annual agreement for operation of the 911 Emergency Dispatch center, and voted to cancel the annual Festival at the Springs event. Thomas also announced the city pool will close August 15th for daily use, and will then be open weekends only thru Monday, September 7th
