Middle School Expansion Project Could Get Initial Approval Monday

Over $9 million projected cost

The Russell County School board is set to consider taking the first step Monday night toward a major renovation and expansion of the current Russell County Middle school.

The school board will consider a recommendation from Superintendent Michael Ford that the board submit an initial application to the Kentucky Department of Education for the estimated Nine Point Three Million Dollar renovation and additions to the middle school.

The new project will include the construction of three additional classrooms, a science room, an art room, and will construct a covered walkway from the Middle School to the Auditorium and Natatorium Complex and to the existing Band room. Also included in the proposal is replacement of the current roof and the H-VAC system, and major security upgrades to the building.

The board will also consider Superintendent Ford’s request to solicit letters of interest for architectural and construction manager services.
