Gov. Andy Beshear on Sunday said both the White House and Kentucky state government are in complete agreement that the recent escalation of cases is going to require the state to take some new steps in its fight against the coronavirus. Beshear said he plans to announce later today some additional recommendations.
There were 316 new cases reported yesterday across the state, with Eight of those new cases being children under the age of five.
Beshear said Kentucky was in a position that if it didn’t act, the state would soon look a lot like states in the South that are facing devastating consequences.
There were four new deaths reported on Sunday, raising the total to 700 Kentuckians lost to the virus.
In the Lake Cumberland area, there were 10 new cases on Sunday, with Pulaski county having five of those cases. There was one new case reported in Russell County, that being a 16 year old male. Russell County now has a total of 15 cases of COVID-19 according to officials.
