Questions Remain in the Reopening of Schools this Upcoming Year

Superintendent Michael Ford send an email last night to parents and guardians of Russell County school students explaining the changes in the upcoming school year calendar.

Ford noted that at Monday’s meeting of the Russell County Board of Education, the calendar was amended with a new start date for students now set for Wednesday, August 26.

Ford said many questions and concerns surrounding the start of the 2020-2021 school year remain and he was awaiting further guidance from state officials before finalizing any “re-opening” plan for Russell County schools.

Ford says his goal is a return to in-person classes that looks as “normal” as possible.
