170 new cases of COVID-19 in Kentucky were announced on Wednesday, bringing the state’s total to at least 12,995 cases. In Russell County, there were no new cases, and one person was released from home isolation, leaving 8 persons in home isolation and one Russell countian in a Somerset hospital.
Governor Andy Beshear said six more people with the virus have died, bringing the statewide death toll to at least 518. Twenty-two new residents at nursing homes have tested positive for the virus, as have 15 staff, according to Beshear, who emphasized nursing homes were an area the virus has hit really, really hard.
State officials say at least 416 people are currently hospitalized with the virus, 61 are in intensive care and 3,444 have recovered from the virus.
