Many Questions Remain for the Upcoming Primary Election

As a result of COVID-19, many counties are reducing the number of polling places and the state is now permitting mail in absentee balloting.   Questions about how many polling places will be open to voters in Russell County on election day, where will the polling places be located, and so on will be addressed this Thursday afternoon during a meeting of the County Board of Elections.

The unfortunate recent death of long time election commissioner Rusty Hill meant a replacement had to be named. County Republican Party Chair Moochie Hart submitted five names to the state Republican Party, which chose Hill’s son, Lance Hill, to serve as election commissioner thru June 30th.

Thursday afternoon’s meeting will take place at 4 o’clock in the basement of the courthouse.
