Persons wanting to serve on city councils have just three weeks to file their candidacy papers.
Under the recently revised Kentucky law, any person wanting to serve on the Jamestown or Russell Springs City Councils must file their papers no later than June 2nd at 4:00 p.m.
Revisions in KRS Chapter 118 now require those seeking city offices to file no later than 4pm on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in June. Previous law permitted the filing for city council seats in August.
The June 2nd filing deadline is just three weeks from today and those papers must be filed with the county clerkâs office.
