An overturned dump truck halted traffic on Hwy 76 just before 8 am this morning.
Daniel P Turner, 27, of Columbia, was traveling southbound on Hwy 76 in a 2006 International Tri-Axle dump truck when his right tires left the roadway. Turner attempted to pull back to the left and overcorrected, causing the truck to turn over onto the driver side. Turner, who was not injured, was hauling 26 tons of gravel for GAT Trucking Inc out of Columbia. The accident is being investigated by Deputy Luke Hughes with the Russell County Sheriff’s Office. He was assisted at the scene by the Eli Fire Department.
The road was opened several hours later.
