JPD to Step-Up Enforcement on Fire Lane Violations at Local Business

This action is a result of complaints received from the general public and the management of the Dollar General Market for the repeated violations of motorist parking in the fire lane at this location.

The fire lane has been properly marked as required by Kentucky law with signage and painted curbing prohibiting such parking or blocking the fire lane.

The purpose of the fire lane is for emergency personnel, such as the fire department to utilize when responding to a fire at not only this location, but other businesses and not for shoppers to use while frequenting these businesses.

Motorists should be aware that even though you may be sitting inside your vehicle while parked in or blocking the fire lane, you can still receive a ticket.

Effective October 1st-October 15th, the Jamestown Police Department will issue written warnings to motorists. After October 15th, officers will issue either a parking ticket or a Kentucky Uniform Citation. All vehicles in violation are subject to being towed at the owner’s expense.
