Band Competed in Clark County Saturday

The Russell County High School Mighty Laker Marching Band finished in second at the Kentucky Music Educators Association Class 3A West Region Quarterfinals with a score of 89.8 on Saturday at George Rogers Clark High School.

At the conclusion of the night’s performances, it was announced that Russell County received a distinguished rating, and was chosen as one of the eight bands to continue in semi-finals competition.

Semifinals will be held at five separate sites from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm next Saturday. Russell County will be one of 16 Class AAA bands at Warren Central High School, and will take the field at 2:15 pm.   From each of the sites, four finalists bands will be chosen from each classification. Finals will begin at 6:00 pm at Houchens Industries – L.T. Smith Stadium on the Western Kentucky University campus next Saturday night.

Under director Curtis Ervin, this year’s show is entitled “The Better Machine.”
