Three Vehicle Crash Occurred Sunday Morning

A three-vehicle crash around 10:45 am Sunday at the traffic light on Main St. in Russell Springs slowed traffic for a short time, according to Russell Springs Police Chief Joseph M. Irvin. A 2012 GMC Terrain being driven by Katie Q. Robertson, of Jamestown, ran a red light and struck a northbound 2014 Nissan Rogue that was being driven by Judith Overby, of Russell Springs, police said. The impact sent the Overby vehicle into a 2011 Toyota Sienna being driven by Kirsten Lawless, of Jamestown, that was stopped at the stoplight opposite of the Robertson vehicle. Both the Robertson and Overby vehicles had three occupants while the Lawless vehicle had four people on board. There were no reports of injuries despite initially being reported as an injury crash, however a street sign was damaged and the Robertson vehicle caught fire in the engine compartment as a result of the collision and had to be extinguished by the Russell Springs Fire Department. The Russell County EMS also responded and the crash was investigated by Officer Jeremie West with the Russell Springs Police Department.
