Sheriff’s Office Swears in New Deputy

Russell County Sheriff Derek Polston officially swore in Corey Meyer as a new deputy sheriff with the Russell County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday. Meyer has worked as a court security deputy at the Russell County Judicial Center and also has worked at the Russell County Ambulance Service as an EMT. Polston said Meyer will now begin performing the regular duties of a law enforcement officer. Meyer will soon be attending the Department of Criminal Justice in Richmond for 23 weeks of training.
