Unemployment Rate Increases in Russell County

Unemployment rates rose in 99 Kentucky counties between July 2018 and July 2019, fell in 15 and stayed the same in six counties, according to the Kentucky Center for Statistics, an agency of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet.

Locally, Russell County had a 6.1 percent unemployment rate, up from 5.7 percent in July 2018. Adair County’s rate was 6.2 percent, Casey County was 6.2 percent, Cumberland County was 4.2 percent, Clinton County was 6.1 percent, Wayne County was 6.4 percent, Taylor County 5.7 percent and Pulaski County was at 5.6 percent.

Woodford County recorded the lowest jobless rate in the Commonwealth at 3.7 percent. Harlan County recorded the state’s highest unemployment rate at 13.1 percent.
