A tractor-trailer owned by Branscum’s Storage, Inc. in Russell Springs caught fire on the Cumberland Parkway in neighboring Adair County on Sunday morning, according the the Columbia-Adair County Fire Department.
The department responded to the westbound lane of the 46 mile marker on the parkway just before 10 am Sunday and, upon arrival, firefighters found the semi engulfed in flames. Firefighters were able to get the blaze extinguished prior to the load of hay it was hauling catching fire.
There were 19 firefighters on scene for 45 minutes. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by authorities.
