Lake Cumberland Tourist Commission Met Wednesday

The Lake Cumberland Tourist Commission met for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday. A couple of key takeaways from the meeting include $11,431.74 in transient tax collected in May and a total of $17,150 collected in ad revenue for the year so far.

During the meeting Tourism Director Janette Marson also said she had contacted the Kentucky Department of Revenue about houseboat and floating cabin transient tax possibilities. She noted that the department’s official statement was that since those items are not specifically listed in KRS, the board cannot collect transient tax on those properties.

Currently, the tourist commission’s Facebook page has more than 135,000 ‘likes,’ up from 200 ‘likes’ six years ago. In just the last month, the page has received over 11,000 new ‘likes’.
