Sunshine Today; Showers and Storms Return Tonight

We are finally wrapping up the work week on this Friday morning and the weather right now is beautiful with sunshine and temperatures in the 70’s already. We should get through most of the day dry, but showers and storms will be getting back into the area later on this evening into the night time hours and some of those storms could be strong to severe. Here’s the latest severe weather outlook from the Storm Prediction Center…

The Storm Prediction Center now has the entire Lake Cumberland Area in that yellow level 2 “Slight Risk” for severe weather. We note there is now an orange level 3 “Enhanced Risk” just to our west around Glasgow and Bowling Green. We are going to keep an eye as these situation evolves over the evening and overnight hours. Here’s the latest run of the HRRR model…

This particular run has that complex coming through late this evening. I think the main time frame will be from 5:00 pm to 2:00 am as this line could speed up or slow down. We just do not know at this time. The main risk associated will be damaging straight line winds, but we cannot rule out an isolated tornado or two. As always we will keep you posted with the latest and we will be updating this post throughout the day so stay tuned.
