Stolen Vehicle Recovery, Leads to Arrests of Liberty Man

On Sunday, Officer Matt Parrish took a report for a stolen 2001 Ford Taurus. Then, in the early morning hours of Monday, Officer Ethan Pike conducted a traffic stop on a white Ford Taurus matching the description of the vehicle reported.

After further investigation, Officer Pike determined this to be the vehicle reported stolen the day prior. Subsequently, Christopher M. Austin, 44, of Liberty was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property under $10,000, operating a motor vehicle under the influence 1st offense, failure to produce insurance card, no registration receipt, terroristic threatening 3rd, and possession of an open alcohol container in a motor vehicle.

Officer Pike was assisted on scene by Jamestown Police Department Officer Heath Tarter.

Austin was lodged in the Russell County Detention Center.
