Severe Weather Impacted the Area Over the Weekend

Several severe thunderstorms moved across southern and south-central Kentucky between Friday night and Sunday night, leaving several trees uprooted and many residents without power for a time. Locally, there were reports of trees down in the Jamestown area Friday, some of which made roads impassable until workers could get them removed.  Several parts of the county also experienced power outages and there were several reports of water ponding on area roadways due to the heavy rainfall.  WJRS was on the air with severe weather coverage several times throughout the weekend as the National Weather Service issued severe thunderstorm warnings for Russell County. Sean Hammond and Jeff Hoover were live in the weather center here at Laker Country 104.9 and on Facebook Live until the storms moved out of the county.
