Severe Weather Impacted the Area Friday

A band of strong thunderstorms moved across much of southern and south central Kentucky last night, leaving several trees uprooted and many residents without power. In Russell county, there were reports of trees down mainly in the Jamestown area, some which made roads impassable until workers could get them removed. Also, several parts of the county experienced power outages and there was several reports of flash water ponding on some roadways. WJRS News went live with severe weather coverage around 8:30 last evening when the National Weather Service first issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Russell county. Sean Hammond and Jeff Hoover were live in the weather center here on Laker Country 1049 until around 9:30 last evening when the storms moved out of the county.
