Murder Charge Amended; Plea Deal Accepted

A Russell Springs man charged with murder in the shooting death of his father back in 2016 has had the murder charge amended to manslaughter, 1st degree, and has agreed to plead guilty to the charges, according to court records.

Eric W. Pendleton, 42, was arrested in August of 2016 and indicted in September 2016 on the murder charge and also faces two counts of wanton endangerment, 1st degree. With the amended charge and plea deal, the commonwealth recommends a sentence of 10 years on the manslaughter charge and five years on each wanton endangerment charge, all to run concurrent for a total sentence of 10 years to serve. Pendelton’s final sentencing is scheduled for August 27th.
