Two Men Escaped Injury Following An Incident at Winfrey’s Ferry Road Thursday

Sheriff Clete McAnich said the incident was first reported just before 3:30 Thursday morning after two men arrived at a residence requesting to use a telephone.

The car, a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am, was being driven by Richard Hornsby, 33, of Russell Springs. Jeffery A. Polston, 34, also of Russell Springs was the passenger. The investigation determined Hornsby lost control of the car: it struck an embankment, overturned and skidded on its top into the river.

Both men were able to escape from the vehicle moments after it went into the water. Neither one were injured.

The Russell County EMS and South Russell Fire Department also responded.
