Republicans in the General Assembly want more than just a promise from Matt Bevin when it comes to an overhaul of the state’s drivers’ licenses. Last year the Governor encouraged lawmakers to bring the state into compliance with the federal Real I.D. Act… then when it passed, Bevin vetoed it.
House Speaker Jeff Hoover wants Bevin to testify about the bill before a House committee and promise he will not veto it. Without Real I.D., Kentuckians won’t be able to use their licenses to board domestic air flights starting in 2018.
