Motorcycle Rider Walks Away From Collision, Thrown Over Car On Impact

An Adair County man walked away with only minor injuries after being ejected from his motorcycle when it struck a car that turned into its path.

Russell County Sheriff’s Deputy Bobby Pritchard told WJRS NEWS the incident occurred at 5:41 Sunday evening at the intersection of KY 80 & 76, about 3 miles east of Russell Springs.

According to Deputy Pritchard, 17 year old Haley Acree of Russell Springs was attempting to turn her 2005 Dodge car from KY 80, left onto KY 76, and in doing so, pulled into the path of a westbound Honda motorcycle being operated by 29 year old Andrew Austin of Columbia.

Deputy Pritchard said Austin’s motorcycle collided with the passenger side of the car, resulting in Austin being thrown over the car.

Austin declined transportation by ambulance but did go on to the hospital by private vehicle to be checked out as a precaution. Acree was treated at the scene by EMS personnel for minor lacerations from glass that shattered upon impact.
