On Thursday, the Laker Bowling team traveled to Phillips Lanes in Campbellsville to take on the Taylor County Cardinals. Our Lady Lakers finished with one win and six losses. The Laker Boys finished with two and a half wins and four and a half losses. High scores for the girls was Kayla Kean 155 and Brooklynne Carroll 137.
High scores for he boys was Dylan Stringer 225 and Zack Kean 212. The bowling team’s next match is on Saturday at Laker Lanes as they will be hosting the Campbellsville Eagles at noon for the last home match of the season.
The Central Kentucky middle school tournament hosted 2 of its Final Four games last
evening at the Russell County Middle School Laker gym.
The 7th grade Lakers fell short and lost to Campbellsville ending their great season
by a score of 29-34 Scoring for the Lakers was Clay Pippen with 14 points and 10
rebounds. Lucas McFall added 9 points, Mayes Gosser, Owen Loy, and Collin Burton
all had 2 points and 2 rebounds.
And for the Main Event of the Night, The 8th Grade Russell County Lakers won over
Green Co in semi final play by a score of 39-32. The Lakers took the lead early in
the game and kept the lead throughout. Scoring for the Lakers was Clay Ferguson
with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Gage Hicks added 8 points in his most expressive
showing of the season. Nathan Lawson had 7 points and 8 rebounds, Maxon Gosser had
5 points and Andrew Shanks came in late in the fourth quarter with 2 big points and
2 rebounds and 4 deflections to keep the Lakers on top. The 8th grade Lakers move
on to the Conference Championship game next Tuesday at Laker Gym against Metcalf
