Jamestown Man Shot During Altercation Early Monday

An altercation between two men early Monday morning in the Warriner Ridge community ended in gunfire with one of the men being seriously injured.

Police say the incident occured around 4:15 a.m. at 150 Murray Road, about three miles south of Jamestown, when 37 year old Trenni D. Chaney of Jamestown waved a handgun and fired a shot, striking a vehicle occupied by Steven Pigman, 43, of Somerset.  Pigman retrieved a shotgun from within the car and returned fire through the windshield striking Chaney in the upper body area, according to police.

Chaney was transported by ambulance to the Russell County Hospital emergency room and later flown by emergency helicopter to the U.K. Medical Center for further treatment.

Chaney and Pigman both live at the residence.  One other person was at the residence but was not involved in the altercation.

No charges have been filed.  KSP investigators will present their findings to a Russell County Grand Jury at a later date.
