A Jamestown residence was totally destroyed by fire Tuesday afternoon. The home, located on Happy Acre Lane, east of Jamestown on Ky. 619, belonged to the Davis Curtsinger family and was heavily involved with fire and smoke when the first members of the Jamestown Fire Department arrived on the scene soon after the 1:40 p.m. alarm.

The Russell Springs and South Russell Fire Departments were summoned to the scene to bring additional water and manpower. Ultimately, despite the efforts of the three departments, the home became engulfed in flames and was a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation but foul play is not suspected.

The Jamestown Fire Department is coordinating relief efforts for the Curtsinger family and is asking for donations of clothing and other necessities. Sizes needed are Men’s pants 36 waist by 30 length, large shirts and size 11 shoes or boots….women’s size 11 clothing and size 9 shoes.

To donate clothing, money or other items, call the Jamestown Fire Department’s non-emergency number at 343-3400 or you can also call 566-1519.

A Russell Springs man and woman were arrested late Wednesday night after allegedly “carrying out a plan to attack and rob a Russell Springs man”. Deputies with the Russell County Sheriff’s Department spent several hours investigating the offenses which were reported around 3:20 Wednesday afternoon. That’s when, according to Deputy Mark Cromwell, “a badly beaten 32 year old William Padilla stumbled to a residence on West-Wilson Road, off of Bernard Ridge Road seeking help”. The homeowner called 911 which prompted the response from local law enforcement and EMS personnel. Deputy Cromwell said Padilla was taken by ambulance to the Russell County Hospital where he was treated for numerous lacerations to his head and other injuries.

Arrested late Wednesday night were Timmy D. Garner, age 26, and Jelena M. Meece, age, 33, both of Russell Springs. Garner is charged with Robbery, Theft and Felony Assault. Meece is charged with Robbery and Theft.

The victim reported to Deputies that Garner and Meece stole $1,000 from him after he was assaulted. $255 cash and various purchase receipts were recovered as part of the investigation, according to Deputy Cromwell.

Deputy Mark Cromwell, Deputy Kenny Brown and Deputy Clete McAninch conducted the investigation and made the arrests.

Garner and Meece were lodged in the Russell County Detention Center.
