Two Arrested on Meth Charges

An investigation by members of the Russell County Sheriff’s department, the Russell Springs Police department, and an officer with the Drug Enforcement Agency  resulted in the seizure of approximately 7 ounces of “crystal meth” and two arrests around 12:30 a.m. Sunday on west highway 80. Arrested were Adam Van Fleet, age 34, and Tabitha Morgan Van Fleet, age 28, both of East Fork Road in Dunnville.   Both are charged with Trafficking in Controlled Substance, First Degree (Meth) and were lodged in the Russell County Detention Center. A passenger in the vehicle, 27 year old Heather M. Weddle, also of East Fork Road in Dunnville, was charged with Public Intoxication and Possession of Controlled Substance relating to prescription pills. Avis Bennett, age 81, of Russell Springs, died Saturday, August 22, 2015 at his home. Funeral service for Avis Bennett will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel in Russell Springs with Bro. Richie Curtis and Bro. Herl D. Robertson officiating. Mallie Wright, age 102, of Russell Springs...

Mallie Wright, age 102, of Russell Springs, died Tuesday, August 18th at the Russell County Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of French Valley United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Oda Sherman Wright and a son, Knox Wright. Survivors include: One daughter: Betty Overstreet, of Russell Springs; Grandson: Gary (Lisa) Overstreet, of Mt. Shawn Matthew Cook, age 39, of Jamestown

Shawn Matthew Cook, age 39, of Jamestown, died Monday, August 17th injuries sustained in a automobile accident on S. Hwy. 127 in Albany, Kentucky. He was a Deputy Sheriff for the Russell County Sheriff’s Department and a member of the Volunteer Fire Department. Survivors include the following: Wife: Elisabeth Cook,  of Jamestown; Four children: Lucas Taylor Cook and Ann Renea Cook, both of Russell Springs, and Elisabeth Jade Cook and Bobby Joe Lynn, both of Jamestown;           Parents: Tom & Barbara Russell, Cedar Bluff, Alabama.
