			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Russell County Lakers will take on the Purples of Bowling Green High School at 6:30 Monday night in the semifinals of the 4th regional tournament at Diddle Arena in Bowling Green.   The Lakers won the opening round regional game, defeating Barren County by 12.  Monday&#8217;s game can be heard on Laker Country 104.9 WJRS with pregame activities beginning around 6:15 with John Burdette, Derek Aaron and Jeff Hoover.   If the Lakers win, they will play Tuesday night in the regional finals for the first time since advancing to the State Tournament in 1957.  Good luck Lakers!!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Russell County Lakers improved their season record to 23-5 with a 71 to 34 over Metcalfe County in the opening round of the 16th District tournament Monday night at RCHS.  The Lakers now advance to Friday night&#8217;s district championship game at 7:00 p.m.  Russell County placed four players in double figures:  Tyler Robertson had 19, Nick Coffey 15,  Blake Aaron 12, and Brandon Bunch with 11.  The Lakers will play the winner of Tuesday&#8217;s night matchup between Clinton County and Cumberland County.  Tuesday night, the Lady Lakers open their district tournament play against Clinton County.  That game will begin at 6 o&#8217;clock at RCHS.  Hear all the action of those games on Laker Country 104.9 fm, WJRS with John Burdette, Derek Aaron and Jeff Hoover.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In high school basketball action over the weekend in games heard on Laker Country, 104.9 fm, WJRS, the Lady Lakers and Lakers both defeated Cumberland County in a girl boy doubleheader Friday night at Laker gym.  Then, on Saturday night, the Lakers got a victory on the road at Casey County.</p>
<p>This week may very well be one of the most exciting weeks for Laker basketball fans in a while.  Tuesday night, the Lady Lakers will play host to the 4th region&#8217;s second rated team, the Lady Scotties of Glasgow.   Then,  on Friday night, the Laker boys will get a re-match with the region&#8217;s top ranked boys team, the Bulldogs of Clinton County, as Clinton County comes to Laker gym for a boy-girl doubleheader.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Russell County Lady Lakers and Lakers played their second consecutive night and their second consecutive girl-boy doubleheader as they both traveled to Clinton County on Friday.  The Lady Lakers improved to 6-2 on the season and 2-0 in the district with a 57 -41 victory.  Lee Ann Grider had 20 points and Madison Loy had 16 to lead the Lady Lakers.  In the boys contest, it was a battle of two unbeaten teams as both the Lakers and Bulldogs entered the game at 5-0.  Russell County led by one point at halftime, 30 to 29, but Clinton County outscored the Lakers 16 to 10 in the third quarter and pulled away in the fourth quarter for the 63-48 victory.  Tyler Robertson had 15 points and Blake Aaron had 10 for the Lakers who will be back in action Tuesday as they take on Pike County Central at Mason County.</p>

<p>In the boys game, the Lakers remain undefeated on the season, defeating Monroe County 48-30 in a very low scoring contest.  Tyler Roberston had 15 points and Blake Ellis finished with 12 for the Lakers, who are now 4-0 on the season.  Both teams will be at home Thursday night for a girl-boy doubleheader with Metcalfe County at Laker gym.  You can get play-by-play coverage of both games on Laker Country, 104.9 fm, WJRS beginning around 5:45 Thursday afternoon.</p>
