Bomb Threat Forces Evacuations Second Day In A Row

For the second consecutive day….a “bomb threat” forced the evacuation of the Russell County Courthouse and Judicial Center in Jamestown.

This time the call was made to the Circuit Clerk’s office….again, by an unknown male.

Law enforcement and fire personnel responded to the downtown area to assist with the evacuations, traffic control and an extensive search of both buildings.

A couple of hours later it was determined both buildings were safe with employees and the public being allowed to re-enter.

State and local police are continuing their investigation in efforts of determining the identity of the person responsible for making the  bomb threats.

Anyone with any information is encouraged to call the Russell County 911 Dispatch Center or KSP Post #15 in Columbia.
