Baptist Health is ending its management agreement with the Russell County Hospital next month.
During the regular monthly meeting of the Russell County Hospital Board Thursday night, Chairman Charlie Blankenship read part of a letter stating Baptist Health will end its management agreement on August 21st. According to the terms of the contract, either organization is allowed to end the relationship with a 30 day notice.
In a memo to hospital employees on Friday….CEO Rob Ramey said the notice does not mean the hospital’s relationship with Baptist Health will end abruptly, further saying Baptist Health is committed to continue managing the local hospital beyond August 21st as mutually agreed upon until such a time as the Hospital Board identifies a new management strategy for Russell County Hospital.
Ramey says the Russell County Hospital remains financially sound and even though there are many changes in healthcare at this time, the local hospital is in a strong position.
