Fire crews able to contain semi fire on Cumberland Parkway

Fire crews in neighboring Adair County were able to contain a blaze that began when a semi caught fire on the Cumberland Parkway yesterday morning.

Crews were dispatched at around 5:20 yesterday morning to the 34-mile marker on the Cumberland Parkway, about 12 miles west of the exit by the Columbia Walmart, to a semi hauling wood pallets that had become fully engulfed.

Crews were able to contain the fire to the semi and were on scene for approximately two hours. The westbound lanes of the parkway were closed until around 3:30 p.m. yesterday due to the fire.
