A Danville woman was flown to the U.K. Medical Center following a three vehicle, rear-end collision Wednesday morning in Russell Springs.
RSPD Asst. Chief Jamie Rogers told WJRS NEWS the mishap occurred at 11:40 a.m. on Hwy. 80 in front of Emerson Manufacturing Company when Geralynn Matteson, 23, was operating a 2002 Mazda and rear-ended a 2008 Chrysler stopped in traffic which was operated by Tia Smith, 27, of Russell Springs.
That initial collision knocked the Smith vehicle forward in the eastbound lane and into a 2002 Chevy driven by 78 year old Paula Sulp of Columbia while Sulp was stopped in traffic waiting to make a left turn into a business.
Matteson was the only person transported from the scene by the Russell County EMS. She was initially treated at the Russell County Hospital and then flown to the U.K. Medical Center for treatment of various injuries.
