Tragic Shooting Claims Lives Of Pulaski County Brothers Saturday Morning

Two Somerset brothers are dead following a tragic shooting incident Saturday morning in southwestern Pulaski County.   Around 9:45 a.m. the Pulaski County 911 Center received a call of a shooting that occurred at 1212 Slate Branch Spur in the Slate Branch community of Pulaski County.  The caller indicated two people had been shot.

Upon arrival, Pulaski County Sheriff’s Deputies found both victims dead in the living room portion of the home.

PCSO Lt. Brett Whittaker told WJRS NEWS the investigation determined that the residence was the home of Josh Flynn, Lindsey Wilson, and Christopher Stigall.   Three friends….Kyle Thacker, Kody Thacker, and Bryan Blankenship were visiting and had spent the night at that residence.

After examining the scene and interviewing those present in the home, Sheriff’s investigators believe Kyle Thacker, age 24, was asleep on a living room recliner while his brother Kody Thacker, age 19, was on a nearby couch.

Investigators concluded Kody apparently picked up a 12 gauge shotgun which accidentally discharged striking Kyle in the head. After realizing he had shot his brother, Kody then became distraught and turned the shotgun on himself, taking his own life.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene by the Pulaski County Coroner’s Office.  Lt. Whittaker said this incident appears to be a horrible family tragedy and no foul play is suspected.
