Sheriff’s Deputy Enters Not Guilty Pleas

A Russell County Deputy Sheriff arrested by State Police last month has entered not guilty pleas to all charges against him.   Monday in Russell District Court, Deputy Nick Bertram entered “not guilty” pleas before Special Judge Scott Lawless who set a preliminary hearing in the case for February 15th at 9:00 a.m.

Bertram was charged by State Police on January 4th with Burglary, Tampering With Physical Evidence, Possession of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia and with Official Misconduct.

Bertram remains suspended without pay from the Sheriff’s Department pending final disposition of the case.
