Man Facing More Than 1,000 Counts Of Child Porn

The Taylor County Sheriff’s Department has arrested 41 year old Michael W. Bolter of Lebanon after an undercover internet operation that involved the Possession and/or Distribution of Child Pornography. The investigation revealed that Bolter may be in possession of matter portraying the sexual performance of a minor on his computer.
The Sheriff’s Department learned that Bolton was registered as a Sex Offender in Kentucky after being convicted in Massachusetts for “Sale of Sexual Material to a Minor and also Possession of Child Pornography”. The Sheriff’s Department learned that Bolton was no longer living at the residence he was registered at in Campbellsville but had moved to Lebanon.
Bolton was arrested while traveling back to Campbellsville for “Failure to Comply with the Kentucky Sex Offender Registry”. A search warrant was executed on his vehicle and his laptop computer was seized.
On Wednesday, January 30th the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department concluded the Forensic Examination of his computer and were able to locate 1,021 unique images and/or videos of children between the ages of under 1 years of age to approximately 15 years of age being sexually abused and approximately 900 child erotic images. Charges were then filed while Bolton was already lodged in the Taylor County Detention Center for the previous Sex Offender Registration Violation.
Bolton was charged with 1,021 Counts of Possession of Matter Portraying the Sexual Performance of a Minor….1,021 Counts of Prohibited Use of Electronic Means to Procure a Minor in reference to a Sexual Offense….and 1 Count of Failure to Comply with the Kentucky Sex Offender Registry. Each count is a Class D Felony punishable by 1-5 years in prison. The investigation is ongoing.
