Jamestown Woman Killed In Three Vehicle Crash; Her Mother and Two Others Injured

A three vehicle crash in Columbia Monday afternoon claimed the life of a Jamestown woman, seriously injured her mother and injured two Columbia residents.

The victim was identified as 44 year old Glenda Downey.  Her mother, 79 year old Mary Huff of Russell Springs was flown to the U.K. Medical Center where she is listed in stable condition, according to State Police.  Also injured were Ronald Gibson and Cynthia Harvey, both 59, and both of Columbia.

According to a report by Trooper Logan Richardson, Downey was operating 1993 Oldsmobile southbound on the Columbia By-Pass, when she failed to stop at a red light at the intersection of Burkesville Street.  Downey’s car collided with Gibson’s vehicle which was traveling west on Burkesville Street….with the Gibson vehicle then colliding with Harvey’s car.

Glenda Downey died at the scene of the accident which occurred at 1:45 p.m.
