Teen Struck By Vehicle While Caroling

A young member of a local group of Christmas Carolers was injured late Friday afternoon when she was struck by a vehicle on Main Street in Russell Springs.

RSPD Sgt. Melissa Taylor told WJRS NEWS the incident occurred at 4:45 p.m. in front of the Bernard Funeral Home when 13 year old Jasmine Patterson was attempting to run across Main Street to catch up with other members of her group from the Clear Springs Baptist Church when she ran into the path of a Dodge pickup which was southbound and operated Ricky Whittle, 37, also of Russell Springs.

Sgt. Taylor says the truck hit Patterson, knocking her to the pavement.  Patterson was not seriously injured according to Sgt. Taylor, but she was transported by ambulance to the Russell County Hospital for treatment and observation.  She was released from the local hospital later in the evening.
