Everyone involved escaped injury, but traffic had to be re-routed for about 45 minutes late Wednesday morning after a wreck involving three pick-up trucks occurred just north of the Russell County High School.

Officer Chasity Shirley of the Russell Springs Police Department told WJRS NEWS the mishap occurred just after 10:45 near the intersection of U.S. 127 & Cade Road when a 2007 Ford being driven by Avelino Bravo of Tornelia, GA, swerved from the northbound lane of U.S. 127 to avoid striking a 2006 Dodge Ram operated by Donnie Black of Russell Springs after noticing Black’s truck was slowing in traffic, awaiting for another vehicle to turn onto Cade Road.  Bravo’s truck “clipped” the rear of Black’s truck, then went into the opposite lane where it struck a southbound 2006 Chevy pickup being driven by Richard Wethington, 44, of Liberty.  The impact of that collision caused Wethington’s truck to leave the roadway and overturn.

Officer Shirley said all three men were checked at the scene by members of the Russell County EMS and all three declined further medical treatment.   Traffic was re-routed through Cade Road and Lakeway Drive while the accident was investigated and until the scene was cleared.
