A Russell County school bus loaded with more than two dozen students was involved in a head-on collision Tuesday afternoon in the Mt. Eden community….and the lead investigator says miraculously there were no injuries.

Deputy Sheriff Nick Bertram told WJRS NEWS the collision involved bus #652, driven by Thomas Salyers, and a 2002 Mazda car being driven by Rebecca Brewer, age 40, of Russell Springs.  The vehicles met in a curve on Mt. Eden Road near the intersection of Yellow Apple Ridge Road.  Both the bus and car sustained extensive damage and the bus came to a stop on the edge of a steep embankment.

According to Deputy Bertram the bus was loaded with 27 students.  None of the students nor either driver was injured.

Superintendent Kenny Pickett told WJRS NEWS the students were loaded onto another bus and all were safely delivered home.  That wreck occurred just after 3:00 p.m. Tuesday.
