A Jamestown woman and three children were injured in a chain-reaction, three vehicle crash Saturday afternoon just north of the Russell County High School.
RSPD Asst. Chief Jamie Rogers told WJRS NEWS the wreck happened at the intersection of U.S. 127 & Ky. 430 (better known as Lakeway Drive) when 79 year old Treva Curtsinger of Jamestown, who was operating a 1992 Ford pickup, attempted to pull from Lakeway Drive onto U.S. 127 northbound, pulling into the path of a 2001 Dodge car which was southbound and being driven by 26 year old Rayelena Butrum of Jamestown. The truck hit the car, knocking it into the northbound lane, resulting in the car being struck again….this time by a 1995 Nissan pickup being driven by Larry Huckaby, 41, of Russell Springs.
Curtsinger and Huckaby escaped the collisions unharmed. Butrum, and three children in her car ranging in age from 2 to 8. were all taken by ambulance to the Russell County Hospital with two of the children later being flown by emergency helicopter to the U.K. Medical Center for further treatment of their injuries.
That accident occurred at 2:45 p.m. Saturday. Agencies responding included the Russell Springs Police Department, Russell Springs Fire Department, Russell County Sheriff’s Department and Russell County EMS.
