Riding the strong pitching performance of freshman Tyler Robertson and a big 8 run 5th inning, the Laker baseball team advanced to Wednesday night’s district championship by defeating Clinton County 10 to 1. The Lakers scored first when Senior Bryson McFall scored on a wild pitch. Clinton County came back to tie the score at 1 to 1 in the top half of the fifth inning. But, in the bottom of the fifth, the Laker bats produced five runs before Clinton County got their first out, then the Lakers scored three more times in the inning to take a 9 to 1 lead into the sixth inning. The Lakers added another run in the bottom of the sixth to lead 10 to 1. Robertson gave up just four hits to Clinton County and struck out four to pick up his sixth win on the season against only one loss. Robertson also led the Lakers in hitting with three hits, while Blake Aaron and Hunter Best each had two hits.
The Lakers are now 27 and 8 on the season and will play for the district championship on Wednesday night at six o’clock at Clinton County high school.
