Laker Baseball Gets Win, Softball Loses to Metcalfe County

The Russell County Laker baseball team picked up an important district win Thursday at Laker field, defeating Metcalfe County 3 to 1. Hunter Best retired the first 15 Metcalfe County batters and got the victory. Tyler Robertson got the save for the Lakers, who will travel to Louisville this weekend for the Louisville Invitational Tournament. The Lakers will play DeSales at 6:45 Friday night, then will play two games on Saturday.
In girls softball action Thursday, the Lady Lakers lost a tough game at home, losing to Metcalfe County 5 to 4 in a district game. The Lady Lakers will travel to Richmond on Saturday to take on Madison Central at 1:00 p.m.
