A “controlled trash burn” got out of control late Sunday afternoon off of Aaron Drive in Russell Springs. Fire Chief H.M. Bottom told WJRS NEWS his department was called out around 4:30 p .m. to the Danielle Neadham residence where some burning trash escaped from a metal barrel and spread quickly to nearby grass and then into the storage yard at Stephens Pipe & Steel. According to Bottom, several rolls of coated, chain-link fence were damaged by the fire. Bottom says the fire generated a lot of smoke, causing some alarm in the neighborhood until the flames were extinguished. The Russell Springs Firemen were on the scene for about 45 minutes.
