Lady Lakers’ Season Ends With Opening Round Loss In 4th Region Tourney

The Russell County Lady Lakers were defeated last night in their opening round game of the girls 4^th region basketball tournament by Logan County….by one point.  The Lady Lakers were down by ten at halftime, 35 to 25 and were down by as many as 14 points in the second half.  Several times the Lady Lakers cut the lead to 4 and finally broke that barrier closing the gap to only one point.  The Lady Lakers had the ball with just a few seconds remaining in the game and went for the last shot, hoping for the come from behind win, but it just wasn’t meant to be as the final shot “rimmed out” and Logan County prevailed 55 to 54.  Senior Rachel Miller led the Lady Lakers in scoring last night with 19 points followed by Lindsey Ramage’s 14.  The Lady Lakers season ends with a 18-9 record.
