Lakers Sweep District, Win Championship!
The Russell County Lakers fought off a very tough, determined Clinton County Bulldogs team Friday night in Albany to capture the boys 16th District Tournament Championship! The lead changed several times throughout the game, but when the final buzzer sounded, a three-point margin favored Russell County, 64 to 61. The Lakers were led in scoring by seniors Robbie Bell with 20, Adam Justice with 14 and Zach Carney’s 12.

The Russell County Lakers and Lady Lakers advance to next week’s 4th region tourney at WKU as champions of the 16th District. Drawings for the regional tournament are being held this weekend in Bowling Green. WJRS and www.lakercountry.com will report the tournament pairings as well as game dates and times as soon as that information is made available to us.
