March Madness A Little Early? Lady Lakers Win On Last Second Shot

In high school basketball action last night, the Lady Lakers won their opening game of the girls’ 16th district tournament by defeating Metcalfe County 40-39.  The Lady Lakers trailed the entire game until freshman Leeann Grider hit a runner at the buzzer to give the Lady Lakers a 1 point victory.  Grider had 14 points and Blair Hoover had 13 points to lead the Lady Lakers.  Russell County will now play Clinton County at 7:00 p.m. Thursday for the district championship.  As always, we encourage everyone to go to Clinton County High School to support the Lady Lakers in the district final, but if you can’t make it to the game, you can hear all the action with John Burdette and Derek Aaron beginning at 6:50 here on WJRS.
