The Russell County Lady Lakers and Laker Boys went on the road Monday night for a district doubleheader at Cumberland County. The Lady Lakers won the opening game, defeating Cumberland County 45 to 29. The score was tied at halftime, 19 to 19, but the Lakers pulled away in the second half and held Cumberland County to only 10 points in the second half, to earn the victory. The Lady Lakers are now 12 and 7 on the season and will be back in action Tuesday night when they travel to Somerset to take on Pulaski County. In the boys contest, the Laker boys rode an outstanding performance by Senior guard Robbie Bell, who scored 20 points in the fourth quarter, to defeat Cumberland County, 57 to 48. The Laker boys are now 14 and 2 on the season and will be at home Tuesday night to take on Pulaski County. That game will get underway at 7 o’clock at Laker gym.
